It's amazing how many cares disappear when you decide
not to be something, but to be someone.
- Coco Chanel
Leadership consists
not in degrees of technique but in traits of character;
it requires moral rather than athletic or intellectual
effort, and it imposes on both leader and follower
alike the burdens of self-restraint.
- Lewis H. Lapham
E pluribus unum.
(Out of many, one.)
In organizations,
real power and energy is generated through relationships.
The patterns of relationships and the capacities to
form them are more important than tasks, functions,
roles, and positions.
- Margaret Wheatly
Leadership and the New Science
Life is change.
Growth is optional. Choose wisely.
- Karen Kaiser Clark
The quality of leadership,
more than any other single factor, determines the
success or failure of an organization.

Leading Edge Youth Leadership
Weekend
April 11 – 13, 2008
Timber Pointe Outdoor Centre on Lake Bloomington, Illinois
You
are cordially invited to participate in the 1st Annual Leading Edge
Youth Leadership Weekend on April 11 – 13, 2008 at the Timber Pointe
Outdoor Centre on Lake Bloomington.
This event will provide an opportunity for youth in Illinois and
Wisconsin to explore what it means to be a leader. Many of us believe
that the leader is the captain of the team, the President of the
organization, the person who planned the activity and brought everyone
together. This often makes for few leaders and in reality misses
out on the fact that every person has the potential that through
whatever role they play they can lead their community to success.
Through a series of workshops and team challenge experiences each
participant in this weekend will have the opportunity to get to
know your inner leader and what you need to do to train and grow
this important part of yourself.
Who will be the staff for the weekend?
The program will be moderated by HFI staff, Camp Warren Jyrch leadership
and an outside facilitator. Since this is in the camp environment
all camp rules will be in place and enforced. These are included
with this information.
Who Is Invited?
There are 25 spots available for young men and women in Illinois
and Wisconsin with bleeding disorders to participate in this weekend.
Since there are a limited number of spaces invitees will be accepted
on a first-come, first-serve basis. As with our camping program,
we encourage young women who may be potential bleeding disorder
carriers to participate.
What does this Conference cost to attend?
There is no fee to participate. Lodging and food will be provided
for the weekend. Also, it is important to note that while transportation
is not available but we will work with all interested participants
to help facilitate transportation. How do I participate? Complete
the attached registration information and send it back to the Hemophilia
Foundation of Illinois. Remember that there are only 25 spaces for
this program so complete your materials as soon as possible.
Where do I direct questions?
